Items may be *1 Quantity or they may be quantified by converting SketchUp attributes to individual items using multipliers. I am currently wrestling with best practice. For example, I commonly use 2x10x16′ lumber for headers, so I use my LAYER for 2×10 headers and use LENGTH and multiplier of /16 to generate quantity takeoff. I may also have a COMPONENT, like a rafter, that is a 2x10x16 and want QTY *1. Question is do you create TWO items, 2x10x16 and 2x10x16 per LF in the Items Database? Or do you have ONE item and then change the ATTRIBUTE and MULTIPLIER when you are assigning cost items to SkethUp items?
