Check out this awesome 4D animation – I created the 3D model, complete with materials takeoff using Estimator for SketchUp, for a development in Texas. Our buddy Chris Welton at Lumion used it, along with his considerable skills, to create this stunning animation in Lumion.

Finally a group of builders that get what 3d modeling can do for our industry.
As a frustrated concrete estimator, heavy Excel user I am still waiting to invest my time to set all this up for my use.
You are headed in the right direction with assemblies.
Saw a game from Germany that used animation to that showed a cost as the user built the house.
Thanks Greg! Estimator has done a great job for me and my projects (custom home builder) – I do site models so I can accurately model and estimate sub-foundations -builds a huge amount of confidence with clients when you prepare them upfront for those additional costs. Feel free to email me any questions directly to john@estimatorforsketchup.com
Thanks, just got SU2017, and installing.
Want to thank you for the 3Dbasecamp video, have watched it 3 times and took notes.
Thanks for the list of plug ins and going to buy Estimator and all of the plug ins.
I am 60 years old and use Excel, production based estimating but have be waiting for something better than Autocad to jump in.
I have a deep workbook for estimating if you would like to see it would be happy to share.
I live by we are all better together and will share anything and everything I do.
We do a lot of homes on the water and around Newport Harbor in California.
Lots of projects with drive in basements on larger lots overlooking the ocean up on the hill.
Very interested in assemblies for the walls, footing, rebar, forms with snap ties, whalers and strong backs.
Have you seen any model with the form work in place?
Any group or blog site you could point me to.
Any suggestions would be great and thanks again for putting this together. It must have been a lot of work.
Thank you Greg!
Feel free to reach out anytime with questions as you get going, suggestions for Estimator, etc. I am always willing to help, share AND learn.
I have been a custom home builder for 30 years and have launched a new business model, Constructability Reviews – I build detailed structural models for builders/architects/developers/homeowners, before they are built – I add their actual trusses and structural members spec’d and you would be amazed at the issues, clashes and costly mistakes I am finding in pre-construction – they save more money than they spend on me. I am always looking for more builders and architects if you know of any in your market looking for 3D modeling services. Much more than a rendering service, it is a professional builder, designer, carpenter, estimator, etc. in a back-office consulting arrangement. Once the structure is modeled, clients can take it to next level and add finishes for renderings, animations, etc.
I would be glad to assist you in assemblies – I have made several but so much of what I do is one-off custom that I often make them as I need them.
Again, feel free to email directly and thanks for watching my video – hope it did not put you to sleep 🙂
Hi Greg and John. My name is Kevin. I just getting into the game of land development and new construction with my Uncle and cousins who are investors. I don’t want to burn myself managing the costing, finances, accounting to optimize profitability. Greg, I share the same philosophy of better together and you mentioned you have a workbook of estimating and possibly willing to share? May I ask if you would be willing to share that any else that may help? I’m willing to even pay for templates, etc. I need any bit of help I can get. I don’t what I can offer besides sharing market information in my area in St. Louis MO and being a broker for 15 years. I’m looking for software and ran into plusspec.com and estimator. Any advice? Thanks John, Greg.
Just bought Estimator but no down load??
